The new app, “Project”, from Virgin Media/WoodWing has broken new ground in the app development space and has transcended our expectations regarding what constitutes a magazine. While it owes a significant debt to earlier innovators like Esquire (Hearst/ScrollMotion) and Wired (Condé Nast/Adobe), it enters virgin territory not only in the way in which video is seamlessly integrated into the content, but in its use of interactivity. And, bells and whistles aside, the actual editorial content is first rate as well. It also contains an ad for Lexus that rates among the best app ads we’ve seen so far. For those interested in the potential of apps to enhance the experience that magazines have traditionally offered consumers, this one is a must buy!
